Overview

Possibility’s Hand Inc. (PHI) is a Non- Profit Organization with a transformative objective of reforming and repositioning lives.  These objectives will be achieved by:

​

  1. Bridging the gap between an individual’s home and the cause of their depression and the Prison, the Mental Hospital, and substance abusers while providing the necessary support to enable them to reach sobriety. PHI will engage the homeless and needy within Grenada to facilitate their needs and empower them to be independent while living under better conditions. Assessment will be conducted. Only serious individuals will be accepted.

  2. Engaging with selected prisoners and patients (being referred from the respective institutions) who are within their first to third sentence and admittance to each of the respective facilities. PHI will only work with individuals who are interested and demonstrated such as in improving themselves.

  3. Gathering information from residents / participants to provide solutions and support. This includes the individual’s current situation and the cause, information on any skills and training they possess and how they can be reestablished in society. PHI will also provide relevant support through life skills training, scholarships, employment opportunities and alternative living arrangements.

  4. Building relationships with affected people through informal arrangements for conversations by creating a welcoming social environment to foster healthy, meaningful dialogue of trust, solution and goal-based objectives and positive results.

  5. Housing would be provided for a maximum of two (2) years for residents / participants. This will enable them to be rehabilitated from trauma, they will be empowered on: life skills, financial literacy and management, communication skills, operating a new or existing business enterprise and will receive training in their areas of career interest while being provided with employment opportunities and further assistance with transition into their new housing arrangements.

  6. Provide counselling and other relevant support to families such as coping mechanisms and providing encouragement to relatives and friends who have loved ones that are imprisoned, substance abusers or suffering with depression.

  7. Educating the public by engaging in social campaigns, interventions and training, with specific focus placed on troubled students as preventative and proactive measures.

Ongoing follow-ups with former residents after they have transitioned into their stable employment and new living arrangements. There may be residents / participants who will be returning to their previous dwelling place. Each will be in accordance with the cause of their trauma. Follow-ups will be done on a regular quarterly or bi-annual basis.

 

PHI will ensure that their directors, members and staff receive the necessary ongoing training and retreats necessary.
