Justification

Observations and conversations were held with the Founder of Possibility’s Hand Inc. and some who are affected regarding the cause and coping mechanism since they seemingly have altered from what was known to be their normal way of life. This have inspired the Founder to create an alternative in the form of a Holding Station and Rehabilitation Centre to cater to the needs of its surroundings.

The Founder gathered that unsolved issues have led to depression and have influenced misunderstanding among individuals by their loved ones. Postnatal stress, effects from a bad relationship, the loss of a loved one, abuse, manipulation, domestic conflicts among many others are some of the issues that have been discussed with the Founder. Sudden changes in their behavior led to social isolation, because communication was not happening their loved ones reached out to the limited options available on the tri-island state. Hence, many have been misunderstood and placed at the mental hospital. Others react unlawfully and have resulted in incarceration while some turn to illicit drugs and other coping mechanism.

Stigma may be difficult to recover from; however, it is possible.  In this regard the Founder of Possibility’s Hand Inc. has embarked on the journey to provide a solution to help curb her findings. Many are displeased about their unfortunate circumstances and cries out for intervention for themselves and prevention for others.

Often, individuals want a place where they can detox, refresh and process things in an environment that is conducive to doing so. Many people know when they are stressed. Some are victims within their homes. Fortunately, there are those who are financially able to take a trip out of the island. Some may take time out to a local guest house or hotel or even a trip to Carriacou / Petite Martinique. While others can visit family and friends within the island. Unfortunately, there are those who may not be able to do so and often react inappropriately due to overbearing recurrent or unsolved issues.

Possibility’s Hand Inc. (PHI) has seen the need to bridge the gap between the Mental Hospital, the Prison and Substance Abuse. PHI will work with individuals who are interested in becoming a better version of themselves. This may be individuals who are living in their homes and are depressed, experiencing unhealthy and drastic domestic issues, substance abusers, former patients referred from the mental hospital and ex-convict referral.

Prescribed medication for mentally ill is not part of Possibility’s Hand Inc. However, if a person’s situation is deemed unfit for the Foundation, that is after proper evaluation by PHI that our program cannot resolve, then that individual’s family will be ask to relocate the person.

​

There will be a rigorous entry process to ensure that candidates are serious about their overall transformation journey. PHI Rehabilitation Centre has five focus sections. They are Substance Abuse, Social Isolation /Depression, Ex – Convicts, Holding Station and Juvenile.
